Oshkosh!

We're trying real hard to get all the photos scanned in to do Oshkosh justice. It was an amazing show. I've written a short article on some of the things we saw. The article was even mostly truthful. We're currently working on the "true" story of why we didn't sleep for four nights, and no it wasn't fun.

I toyed with the idea of having a photo gallery, or just individual pictures, and I decided that i the interest of slower connections, we'd do it the long way.

Scenes of Oshkosh

We saw a lot of wonderful stuff! There were some most humorous items, such as the Heffer Pilatus complete with milking stool and udders. We ran into our Navion pals Ron and Margie who hung out with us some of the time. They were also fascinated by the cow plane. M00.

An airshow isn't an airshow without lots of pictures of stuff in the air. There was an interesting shot of the SR71 along with two other planes. There was also a nice shot of a DC-3. and, of course, there were the Northern Lights. I didn't get any pictures that came out well of Patty Wagstaff, Sean Tucker, or Bob Hoover, unfortunately, so they aren't on the page. But I did get another picture of the Northern Lights. There was also the aircraft we had a terrible time trying to see....the Stealth Bomber. That was kinda cool, and the quietest thing around. The warbirds were also quite impressive, especially when they flew in formation.

Some of the things we saw were truly unique. For example, someone had the most innovative usage for a Yak that we had ever seen. Sweet dreams. We also got to have a feeding frenzy right on the field. We also got to see our aerobatics instructor, Bill Finagin's name on the Pitts Cup at IAC headquarters. Bill achieved the highest percentage score of any competitor in both 1989 and 1990's US National Aerobatics Championships. Told ya he was good!

Of course, nothing could quite compare to the busses. There was plenty of transport all over Oshkosh. We were not quite prepared, however, for a bus that called to us so personally. Our Own Personal Bus waited for us day in and day out. We also met our own personal Lamers, when our friends from #aviators on IRC, edg, (and you'll just have to see his cute little picture), Wayward, and Mezcalkid showed up for fun and games. Don't tell anyone that edg is ticklish.
